There are many types of wood burning ovens. The most recommended, depending on their quality and traditional use, are the ovens made with refractory bricks and, especially, the Traditional model.

What is better, buy the KIT to manufacture it or buy it directly prefabricated?

This point has a very personal answer. If you are one of the people who prefer to make your own oven, you can buy the KIT to assemble your oven. Or if the place where you are going to place it is difficult to access to carry a finished oven. Of course, from Hornos de Leña, we provide all the information you need, with assembly instructions, advice, and, if necessary, telephone or email assistance.

On the other hand, there are people who choose to have their prefabricated oven ready to use directly. In this case, you have to be very clear about the measurements and space necessary to place it, we will take care of the rest 😉

The correct temperature to make your recipes come out delicious and at their point, ranges between 200 and 300 degrees.

It depends on what we are going to cook, we will maintain one temperature or another:

For pizzas a temperature of 300 degrees would be adequate.
For meat it is advisable to reach 200 degrees and let it cook slowly to avoid drying out.
For rice 225 degrees.
For fish we recommend 200 degrees.
For vegetables with 200 degrees it is enough.

How to cure clay pots?

The cure is very simple. The day before using it, we leave it in water for approximately 8 hours. Afterwards, we dry them with a cloth and that's it! This process is done only once, when we are going to use the casserole for the first time.

  1. Hello, I have a 90cm clay oven, to roast a lamb or suckling pig according to the recipes, they must be between 1,30 / 2 hours at 200 degrees, but I cannot have more than 40m on each side because it stays and dries Is it that the long times are for ovens of more than 1m in diameter?

  2. Hello, my query is the following, several times I have made pizzas in a clay oven and the base of the pizza is raw, any special recommendation? Thank you!

    • Hello, this is because the floor of the oven is not hot enough, if after using it it has lost heat, you can recover it by spreading the embers all over the floor and leaving it for a while to recover temperature. All the best.
